Winners and Prize Claiming
What happens when a giveaway ends, what winners receive, and how they claim their prize.
When a giveaway reaches its end condition, Tickety draws the winners, announces them and hands out whatever you set up for them. All of it is automatic, and all of it is configured before the giveaway ever runs.
Access the Web Dashboard
Open your Tickety Dashboard. Log in using your Discord Account.
Navigate to Configuration
-
Once logged in, locate and click on the "Giveaways" section in the sidebar.
-
Select "Configuration" from the options.
How winners are drawn
Winners are picked at random from the members who entered. The Winners value on the giveaway decides how many are drawn, between 1 and 99, and nobody can be drawn twice in the same giveaway.
Entries are what tilt the draw. A member with extra entries from a boosted role or from voting has a better chance than a member on a single entry, but never a guaranteed one. See Entry requirements and luck for how to hand out extra entries.
If nobody entered, the giveaway still ends and the reply says no winners were selected.
What happens when a giveaway ends
- Tickety draws the winners from the entries it has at that moment.
- The giveaway message is edited to
🎊 GIVEAWAY ENDED 🎊, its Participate button goes grey, and the Giveaway Information field switches from Ends to Ended and names the winners. - A reply is posted under it congratulating the winners by mention.
- The winner roles are handed out.
- A Claim Prize button is added to the reply, when prize claiming is set up.
- Winners are sent a direct message, when DM Winners is on.
- The whole thing is written to your giveaway log channel.
The ended message names the first 10 winners and then adds (+N more). The reply itself pings up to 100 of them.
Winner Notifications
- DM Winners 👑 - Sends every winner a direct message when the giveaway ends, naming the prize, with a link back to the giveaway message and a claim button when prize claiming is set up. Off by default.
A member with direct messages closed will not receive it, and there is nothing Tickety can do about that. Point them at Enabling Direct Messages.
Prize Claiming
Prize claiming turns a win into a ticket, so the winner and your staff have a private channel to sort out delivery.
- Ticket Panel - The ticket panel used to open the claim ticket. Pick one and a Claim Prize button appears under the ended giveaway announcement. Leave it empty and no claim button is shown anywhere.
- Maximum Claim Tickets per Winner 👑 - Caps how many claim tickets one winner can open for the same giveaway.
0means unlimited, and the cap goes up to 100. - Claim Time Limit 👑 - How long winners have to claim after the giveaway ends, entered in days, hours and minutes.
0means no time limit, and the longest window is 90 days. - Claim Prize Button 👑 - The emoji, label and colour of the button. It only appears once a ticket panel is selected.
Closed tickets still count toward Maximum Claim Tickets per Winner. A winner who closes their claim ticket and opens another has used two.
The Claim Prize Button label goes up to 80 characters and the colour choices are Blurple, Gray, Green and Red. Free servers always get a blurple 🎉 Claim Prize button whatever is saved here, and custom server emojis need premium.
What the winner sees
Pressing Claim Prize opens a ticket from the panel you chose and tells the winner which channel it landed in. Inside the ticket, on top of the panel's normal welcome message, Tickety adds a Giveaway Prize Claim block with the prize, the giveaway ID, the host and a Jump to Giveaway link, so your staff never have to ask which giveaway it is about.
| What they see | Why |
|---|---|
| Better Luck Next Time! | They pressed the button but were not one of the winners |
| Prize Claim Not Configured | No ticket panel is selected under Prize Claiming |
| Claim Ticket Limit Reached | They are over Maximum Claim Tickets per Winner |
| Prize Claim Expired | The claim window closed, with the time it closed at |
Without premium, neither the ticket cap nor the claim window is enforced, so winners can claim any time and as often as the panel allows.
This feature requires a Premium Subscription.
Rerolling a winner
A reroll replaces winners you choose with fresh ones drawn from the members who entered and did not win.
From the dashboard, open Giveaways > Giveaway Management, click the ended giveaway, then Reroll. The Reroll Giveaway dialog lists the current winners with a search box. Tick the ones to replace and press Reroll.
From Discord, run /giveaway reroll and pick the giveaway. Tickety shows you the same list privately, 25 winners to a page. Tick the ones to replace and press Reroll Selected.
Either way, the replacements are announced in the channel, given the winner roles, and sent a direct message if DM Winners is on. The reroll is logged with the winners it replaced.
Two rules to keep in mind:
- A giveaway can only be rerolled within 30 days of ending. After that you get Error Rerolling Giveaway.
- There have to be enough entrants left who did not already win to fill the slots you ticked.
Checking who has claimed
Run /giveaway info and pick the giveaway. The private card includes a Prize Claims field reading how many winners have claimed out of the total. Press View Claims for the full list, 10 to a page, showing who claimed, how many tickets they opened and which one is still open. The button only appears once the giveaway has ended and has winners.
