Welcomer

How the Welcomer works

Greet new members with a card, a message, a DM and automatic roles.

The Welcomer greets people when they join your server, and says goodbye when they leave. It can post a public welcome in a channel, send the new member a private DM, draw a welcome card with their avatar and name, and hand out roles automatically.

Every part is switched on separately, so you can run only the automatic roles, only a DM, or all of it at once.

Turn it on

Access the Web Dashboard

Open your Tickety Dashboard. Log in using your Discord Account.

  1. Once logged in, locate and click on the "Welcomer" section in the sidebar.

  2. Select "Configuration" from the options.

General Settings

  • Welcomer System - The master switch. While it is off, nothing in this section runs: no welcome message, no DM, no card, no roles and no leave message. Off by default.
  • Wait for Verification - Holds the welcome, the DM and the roles back until the member passes verification. On by default. This row only appears when the verification system is enabled.
  • Roles to Assign - Roles given automatically to every member who joins.

Everything else on the page stays editable while Welcomer System is off, it simply never fires. Press Save at the bottom of the page after any change, or nothing is applied.

Roles for new members

Pick up to 25 roles under Roles to Assign. Every member who joins receives all of them.

Tickety can only hand out roles that sit below its own highest role. Pick one above it and the dashboard refuses, with the message The bot cannot manage this role because it's higher in the role hierarchy. Move Tickety's role higher in your Discord server settings and pick it again.

If verification is enabled and Wait for Verification is on, these roles arrive when the member passes, together with the verified roles. A role that is on both this list and verification's remove on pass list is removed, not kept.

If you use verification

The Welcomer and verification work together, and Wait for Verification decides when the greeting lands.

SettingWhat members get
Wait for Verification onThe welcome message, the DM and the roles arrive the moment the member passes verification
Wait for Verification offEverything is sent as soon as the member joins, whether they verify or not

A member who never verifies never gets a welcome while this is on. Changing the toggle while somebody is halfway through verification does not drop their welcome.

/force verify marks a member as verified by hand. If their welcome was being held back, it is delivered at that moment: message, DM and roles. It is available to members with your Tickety Admin Role or the Manage Server permission, and only while the verification system is enabled.

What Tickety needs

  • Permission to view the channel and send messages in it, for both the welcome channel and the leave channel.
  • Permission to attach files in that channel, if the welcome card rides along with the message.
  • A role above every role listed in Roles to Assign.

Changing it from Discord

/configurator opens a smaller version of this page inside Discord, with the master switch, Wait for Verification, auto roles, the welcome message, the welcome DM, the leave message, the welcome card and member milestones. Members need the Manage Server permission, only the person who ran the command can use the buttons, and the session expires after a while.

Embeds, components layouts, custom card layouts and background uploads stay on the dashboard. The card page inside Discord shows Custom (from the dashboard) for those.

Seeing how it is doing

Your Analytics page has a Welcomer tab, available on every plan. It shows how many members joined and left, your net growth, how many welcomes were delivered in the channel and by DM, how DM delivery is holding up, and how many milestones you have celebrated.
