How FAQ panels work
Build a searchable list of questions and answers that members can open in any channel.
An FAQ panel is a list of questions and answers you build in the dashboard and post into a channel. Members pick a question from the dropdown and the answer arrives privately, so the channel stays clean and the questions your staff answer ten times a day stop becoming tickets.
Questions and Answers
Write the questions members pick from, the answers behind them, and the buttons an answer can end with.
FAQ Buttons on Other Features
Put an FAQ button on your ticket panels, application panels, verification message, welcome messages and giveaways.
What members see
- The channel gets one message with a dropdown under it. The dropdown holds your questions, with the hint text
Search for a questioninside it. - A member picks a question and the answer arrives privately. Nobody else in the channel sees it, and the channel itself is untouched.
- That private answer carries the same dropdown, so the member can read as many questions as they want without going back to the channel.
- An answer can end with buttons. A button either opens a link or opens one of your ticket or application panels, so a member who did not find their answer can open a ticket on the spot.
Build your first panel
Access the Web Dashboard
Open your Tickety Dashboard. Log in using your Discord Account.
Navigate to FAQs
Once logged in, locate and click on the "FAQs" section in the sidebar, under SERVER.
Create the panel
Click Create New FAQ Panel. The counter above your panel list shows how many of your 5 free panels you have used.
Name it
Under Panel Settings, fill in Panel Name. This name is for you: members never see it unless you put {panel.name} in the panel message.
Write the panel message
Open Panel Message and write what the whole channel reads above the dropdown.
Add your questions
Open Questions and click Create a Question. Each one needs its wording and an answer. See Questions and Answers.
Post it
Pick a channel in the dropdown at the top of the page, then click Publish. Create saves the panel without posting anything.
Panel settings
- FAQ Panel Enabled - Sets the
EnabledorDisabledbadge shown next to the panel in your FAQ list. It appears once the panel exists, so you do not see it while you are creating one. - Panel Name - The name in your FAQ list, in the
/sendfaqpanelmenu, and what{panel.name}fills in. Up to 80 characters, and required before the panel saves. - Search Placeholder 👑 - The hint text inside the question dropdown, up to 100 characters. Without premium members always see
Search for a question, and whatever you typed is kept for when a subscription comes back.
The panel message
Panel Message is what gets posted into your channel, with the question dropdown under it. It uses the same message editor as the rest of the dashboard. A new panel starts with an embed titled Welcome to {guild.name} and a short description telling members to use the dropdown, with the footer Tickety | Tickety.top.
This message is posted once for the whole channel, so write it for everyone. {guild.name} and {panel.name} belong here, and member placeholders belong in an answer, which is built for the one person who asked. See Placeholders for the full list.
You also pick how the message is drawn:
- Embeds - Coloured panels with text and fields. This is the default and what nearly every panel uses.
- Components 👑 - Text, images and buttons in any order. On a panel message it also lets you place a single question as its own button, or build a dropdown block of questions in place of the automatic one. Anything you do not place is still sent, with the dropdown at the bottom as usual.
Free servers get 2 embeds per message and 1 field per embed. Premium raises that to 5 embeds and 25 fields.
Send it to a channel
- Pick the channel in the dropdown at the top of the panel editor. It lists your text and announcement channels.
- On a new panel, Publish saves and posts it in one step, and Create saves it for later.
- On a panel you have already saved, Send the Panel posts a fresh copy. Save your changes first: with unsaved edits the save bar shakes instead of sending.
- Sending again posts another copy. It does not update the message already sitting in the channel, so delete the old one yourself.
Post it with a command
/sendfaqpanel posts a panel without opening the dashboard. Run it in the channel you want the panel in, pick a panel from the private menu, and Tickety posts it there.
- Members with your admin role, or with the Manage Server permission, can run it. Narrow that further in Command Permissions.
- Tickety needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in that channel.
- Every send is written to your log channel as FAQ Panel Sent, with the panel, the channel and who ran it.
FAQ panels are built in the dashboard only. /sendfaqpanel posts a panel you have already created, and tells you when the server has none yet.
Your panel list
The FAQs page lists every panel you have built, with its question count and its Enabled or Disabled badge.
- Search for FAQ Panels - Filters the list by name as you type.
- Edit - Opens the panel so you can change its settings, message and questions.
- Duplicate - Opens the create page pre filled with a copy of that panel. The name is left blank on purpose, so give the copy its own.
- Delete Panel - Removes the panel for good. Messages you already posted keep their button and dropdown, but they stop answering, so delete those messages too.
After you edit a panel
Answers are read from the panel every time a member asks, so rewriting an answer reaches every message you have already posted. The list of questions in a posted dropdown is the list from the moment you sent it. After adding, removing or renaming questions, send the panel again and delete the old message.
Limits
| Free | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| FAQ panels per server | first 5 | unlimited |
| Questions per panel | 25 | 25 |
| Buttons under one answer | 1 | 20 |
| Embeds in the panel message or one answer | 2 | 5 |
| Fields in one embed | 1 | 25 |
| Custom search placeholder | no | yes |
| Components layout | no | yes |
| Custom server emoji on a question | no | yes |
If a subscription ends while your server still keeps more than 5 panels, members who pick a question get a Panel Limit Reached notice and /sendfaqpanel refuses to post. Delete panels until you are back to 5, or renew. Nothing is deleted for you.
Use an automation instead when
An FAQ panel is something a member opens on purpose: they see the dropdown, pick a question and read the answer. An automation is the opposite. It watches chat and replies on its own when someone types something close to a phrase you set.
Use a panel for a support or rules channel members go to. Use an automation for the questions people ask in the middle of a conversation, where nobody is going to open a panel first. The FAQ answer recipe is the build for that.
Where to go next
- Questions and Answers: the question wording, the answer message, and the buttons under it.
- FAQ Buttons on Other Features: put the same panel on your ticket panels, verification message and welcome messages.
- AI Ticket Features: FAQ Deflection shows a member the closest answer from an FAQ panel before their ticket is created.
- Placeholders: every token you can drop into a panel message or an answer.
- Free and Premium limits: what a subscription changes across the rest of the bot.
