Blacklists

A blacklist blocks one member from using Tickety in your server. They keep every Discord role and permission they had, they can still read and talk in your channels, and tickets they already have open stay open. The block only shows up the moment they try to open a ticket, start an application or join a giveaway.

The four types

Blacklist someone from the dashboard

Press Add Blacklist, or Add First Blacklist if your list is still empty. The dialog asks for four things:

• Member - Type at least two characters of a name, or paste a Discord user ID. Only people in your server are offered, up to ten matches at a time. Blacklist Member stays grey until you pick someone.
• Reason - Required, up to 500 characters, with a live counter under the box. The member reads this exact text, so write it for them. Line breaks are kept.
• Type - Global, Ticket, Application or Giveaway. It starts on Global.
• Expiry Date - Off means the block never lifts. On reveals a date picker and a time picker.

Press Blacklist Member and it takes effect straight away.

Set an expiry

Switch Expiry Date on and the block lifts itself at the moment you pick. Tickety suggests roughly this time tomorrow, rounded to the next half hour, and will not accept a date in the past.

An entry that has expired stops blocking anything, but it stays in the list with a past date in the Expires column. Nothing removes it for you, so delete it yourself when you want a tidy list. Permanent entries show Never.

Blacklist someone with a command

/blacklist does the same job from Discord. It needs Discord's Manage Server permission or your Tickety Admin Role.

• user - Required. Who to blacklist.
• category - Global, Tickets, Applications or Giveaways. Defaults to Global.
• reason - Up to 80 characters. Left empty it becomes No reason provided.
• duration - How long the block lasts. Leave it empty for permanent.

The duration option suggests Permanently, 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. You can also type your own, such as 2h30m or 45 days. 0 means permanent.

Only you see the reply. It names the member, the reason and, when you set one, when the block expires.

What the member sees

Tickety never sends a DM at the moment you blacklist someone. They find out the next time they try to use the blocked part of the bot, and only they see the reply.

It is titled Blacklisted and reads "You have been blacklisted from <the part you blocked> due to <your reason>." A Global entry names all of Tickety's systems, and the narrower types name the ticket, application or giveaway system. When you set an expiry, a second line says when the block lifts, written as a countdown.

A member with a Global blacklist also stops triggering your automations. Nothing is posted back to them, their messages simply pass by.

Removing a blacklist

In the dashboard, press the trash icon on the row and confirm with Remove Blacklist. It removes that one entry. If the member has entries for more than one type, the others stay.

From Discord, use /unblacklist. It needs Manage Server or the Admin Role.

• user - Required. Who to unblacklist.
• category - Optional. Global, Tickets, Applications or Giveaways.

Leave category empty and every blacklist that member has in your server is removed at once. Pick a category and Tickety removes the entry that is currently blocking it, which may be their Global entry if that is what is in the way. If they are not blacklisted at all, the reply reads @user is not blacklisted.

What gets logged

/blacklist and /unblacklist write a User Blacklisted or User Unblacklisted entry to your log channel, with the member, the type, the reason, the duration and who ran the command.

Set your log channel under Settings.

Things worth knowing

• A member gets one entry per type, so up to four at once.
• A Global entry blocks adding the narrower ones. Try it and Tickety answers This user is already blacklisted with that type in this server. Remove the Global entry first.
• Running /blacklist on someone already covered for that category answers @user is already blacklisted for <reason>. and changes nothing.
• Blacklisting a staff member does not remove their access to tickets they already work in. It stops them opening new ones.
• Search for Blacklisted Users filters the list you already have by username or user ID.
• /serverinfo shows how many members are blacklisted in your server.
