# Close quiet tickets automatically (/tickets/autoclose)

Autoclose closes tickets where staff are waiting on the member. After a staff message goes unanswered for a while, Tickety posts a reminder in the ticket. If the member still does not reply, it closes the ticket. These settings apply to every panel.

The countdown starts at the first staff message the member has not answered. A ticket where staff have not written yet is never closed this way, and later staff messages do not restart the countdown.

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Open Autoclose Settings [#open-autoclose-settings]

    Open your [dashboard](https://tickety.top/dashboard) and pick your server. In the sidebar, under **Tickets**, click **Configuration**, then click **Autoclose Settings**.

  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Pick what closes tickets [#pick-what-closes-tickets]

    Go to **Autoclose Behavior**.

        <img alt="Close Tickets on User Leave, Autoclose System and Only Autoclose Empty Tickets" src="__img1" />

    1. **Close Tickets on User Leave** closes a member's open tickets when they leave your server. It is on to start with, and free.
    2. Turn on **Autoclose System** 👑. This is the countdown itself.
    3. Turn on **Only Autoclose Empty Tickets** 👑 to leave any ticket alone once the member has written in it. Good for tickets that are opened and then forgotten.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Set the timings 👑 [#set-the-timings-]

    Scroll to **Timings**.

        <img alt="Send Reminder Message After and Delay Between Reminder and Closure" src="__img2" />

    1. Set **Send Reminder Message After** in days, hours and minutes: how long a staff message may go unanswered before the reminder. It starts at 1 day.
    2. Set **Delay Between Reminder and Closure**: how long after the reminder the ticket closes if nobody answers. It starts at 6 hours.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Change the reminder 👑 [#change-the-reminder-]

    Under **Reminder Embed**, edit the reminder message if you like. `{remainingTime}` shows when the ticket will close.

        <img alt="Reminder Embed" src="__img3" />

    In the ticket, the default reminder looks like this:

        <img alt="The Autoclose Reminder in a ticket" src="__img4" />
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Save [#save]

    Press **Save Changes** in the bar at the bottom of the page. New timings apply to countdowns that start after you save.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The reminder pings everyone in the ticket. Any reply from the member, or from someone added to the ticket, cancels the countdown. A ticket closed this way gets the reason "This ticket has been automatically closed due to inactivity."

Staff can control one ticket with `/ticket autoclose`: **Cancel** stops its countdown, **Trigger** starts one now, and **Toggle** turns autoclose off or on for that ticket.

    * The server has no premium.
    * Either timing is set to 0.

    * The member replied, which cancels it.

    * **Only Autoclose Empty Tickets** is on and the member already wrote.
